Diamond Jubilee Bunting

Bunting was originally a specific type of lightweight worsted wool fabric used for making flags and ribbons. It now means festive strings of colorful triangular flags made of fabric, or imitations of fabric. London is awash this weekend with red, white and blue bunting for the Diamond Jubilee

If you feel the urge to make your own red, white and blue bunting, first you need to gather some red, white and blue material. Draw a triangle on a piece of card and cut it out. The size of your bunting flags will depend on the size of the triangle you draw. Using the triangle as a template, draw round it to create triangles of fabric. Cut out the triangles using pinking shears. Leaving a small length of free tape at each end, attach the flags at even intervals along a strip of bias binding. If you like sewing, sew the flags in place. Otherwise, use a stapler to hold them in place.

This is an activity you can get the children involved in.

Easy craft activities, such as this, are included in the Mystery games for 4 to 7 year olds at ITM Games mystery games page. Check out The Mystery of the MissingSpace Ranger.
